An interactive customer knows why I made every decision and that it was based on their input. I am happy because they are pleased with the result. That's because they know the room limitations, budget, acoustics and aesthetics have all been considered in helping them achieve their dream.

We have friends whose systems cost significantly more than ours. Their systems are so complex, they don't even know how to use them. Our Bose system is much more sophisticated than anything we've ever had, and yet it's by far the easiest to use.

I'd had other kinds of custom systems, but I'm much happier with this one than I was with the others. It's easier to use even though I'm using it in a much bigger application, it's more reliable, and it's expandable. And best of all," he says with a smile, "it's very cost-effective. You get premium performance without having to pay premium price.

Home Theater and interior design Black & white, "literally". After designing so many rustic homes recently, we welcomed the opportunity to create a theater that had the freedom of modern design.
You've gotta see this!

In an ordinary theater, guests in the yard would be able to see only the backside of a projected image. But in this theater, the image can be reversed at the press of a button for viewing from the (putting) green.

Q. Can in-wall speakers deliver the same sound quality as floorstanding speakers? And can in-ceiling speakers deliver the same impact as in-wall speakers? Scott's Answer

Basement Theater

Family Entertainment Solution
This customer originally came to us wanting a simple flat screen TV mounted on the wall in a basement. We asked what the room would be used for and they said family time. Family time means different things to different people. What we discovered in this case is it usually means several families. The kids will be watching a movie and the parents want to catch up. Ideally they wanted to all be together.

All this was difficult when we saw the space. Unfinished, but not much to work with. Typical damp small concrete basement. But the biggest problem was low ceilings and a narrow but long room. Before choosing any AV we worked on this issue. All the walls would have imbedded acoustic panels to cut down on reflection and simple trim would hide the seems. Carpet with extra padding was also required to absorb sound.

Adult Time
The long room was basically split into two sections: front half for the kids and the back area for the adults. The large 92" Draper onyx screen can easily bee seen from the back but the parents have their own TV in a cozy sitting area by the wine bar. They also have there own speakers hidden in the soffit. Since space was at a premium, the surround system chosen was a Bose Built-inVisible. No floor space is taken up with speakers; even the subwoofer blends in beautifully.

Hidden subwoofer, speakers and acoustic panel
The large in wall speaker ( 11" x 30" ) is hidden in the wall with only a small grill exposed at floor level, while the small Bose in wall speakers, ( 4" x 7" ) are hidden inside the woodwork.   See how this is done

Hey Mom, no wires!
The DILA image was provided by a JVC projector. And even though it was low enough to hit ones head, a sofa table positioned under it prevents injury. But mom's favorite solution was getting rid of the video game clutter. A custom coffee table was made to house 2 game systems, controllers, media and even the remotes. The kids (and dad) can play a game without creating clutter or a rats nest of wires. Then close the drawers and sit back for a movie night with the immediate family.
