Fun for the Family
The family that plays together here, plays hard -- and looks forward to every minute of it.
Imagine a family that actually wants to spend time together—seems like it's becoming a rare thing these days.
This family is dedicated to enjoying life and, most importantly, having fun as a family. They wanted the perfect space that allowed them to engage in many activities with numerous friends and family.
This large space has a pool table, an air hockey table, and, of course, seating for movies or the big game. With a room of this size it is necessary to have a large-projection screen to be able to see detail from the gaming tables. That was solved with an Optima HD projector and a Draper 106-inch motorized screen.
The family also enjoys playing video games from one of their two game units on the big screen. The homeowner pilots a real biplane for fun, but his kids have to make do with a flight simulator at projected at near full size. Thanks to the Triad surround sound system, they also are emersed in a full sound experience whether using the simulator or just watching their favorite aviation film.
However, it wasn't all fun and games. The family was very concerned with the lack of high-definition programming in the area. Many of the programs they watch are still in standard definition. As many people have noticed, even the best projector with a scaler cannot improve these low quality images. Also when enlarged to a tremendous size, their flaws become even more obvious.
The solution was to integrate a high-def Samsung 52-inch DLP television into the wall for standard-definition viewing and have the big screen retractable. The main wall also includes a recessed cabinet for the equipment and speakers.
Frequent equipment upgrades are easy using a Middle Atlantic pullout rack system. Finally, the MX-3000 touchscreen remote allows them to send any image to any screen.
